The menu at Outpost Cafe reads like a love letter to American favorites. Start your day with their fluffy pancakes, eggs, and sausage or indulge in the rich flavors of the Biscuits & Gravy with Poached Eggs and Hashbrowns. If you’re in the mood for something adventurous, the Frank’s Gunslinger Hash and the satisfying Huevos Rancheros boast bold, well-seasoned layers that ignite the palate. Lunch and dinner choices shine just as brightly. The Hangman Burger—an American Kobe beef masterpiece layered with crispy bacon, chipotle sauce, and your pick of cheese—is nothing short of legendary, earning its reputation as the perfect “last meal.” For those who like a little edge, the Bleu Cheese Burger with its charbroiled patty, fried onion ring, and tangy chipotle mayo on an onion bun provides complex, smoky layers that are utterly addictive.

Beyond the burgers, the grill offers tender pork chops, fall-off-the-bone ribs, and a famously satisfying Chicken Fried Steak & Two Eggs, all cooked with precision and heart. The soups, like their homemade beef chuck chili loaded with seasoned beans, cheese, and onions, warm you from the inside out, making a perfect complement to the meal or a cozy choice on its own.

Guests rave about the generous portions and homemade touches, like the crispy fried pickles, the fresh-out-of-the-oven apple pie slice, and the savory Pastrami Sandwich that packs punch after punch of flavor. Breakfast burritos such as The Macho Hombre, overflowing with bacon, sausage, ham, eggs, home fries, and cheese, ensure no one leaves hungry. For the health-conscious, the Outpost Fried Chicken Salad offers a lighter yet deeply satisfying option.

Food is absolutely amazing. I had the brisket burger, and my wife had the salmon. If you like pickles, you have to try the fried pickles. Amanda, the server was the best service ever. I can't say enough about this. Wish I had found it earlier.

GREAT food!! Dennys and IHOP need to come here and take notes what real good diner food should be. We had the breakfast. Everything was cooked perfect. Service was excellent. Wish this place was closer to home!! 5-5 recommend!

The food at this restaurant is simply delicious. Before going, I had heard comments about similar places where they only treat frequent customers well, so I went in with certain expectations. However, I was pleasantly surprised to find that the service here is excellent for everyone, even on my first visit. Aside from the outstanding service, the portions are quite generous, so keep in mind that one dish can easily be enough for two people. Definitely great value for the price! Overall, the atmosphere, service, prices, and of course, the food are top-notch. 100% recommended. I’ll definitely be back!

he Outpost Cafe, located at 8685 US Highway 395 in Oak Hills, California, is a cherished dining spot for both locals and travelers. Known for its classic American comfort food, the cafe offers a variety of dishes that cater to diverse palates. Among its standout offerings are the Repeater and Hangman burgers, both of which have garnered high praise from patrons. The Repeater Burger is a testament to the cafe’s commitment to quality. Crafted from a blend of brisket and short rib, this burger remains exceptionally juicy, even when cooked to medium well. One satisfied customer noted, “Had the Repeater burger, supposedly a brisket/short rib grind. I believe it because even at a medium to medium well cook, it was really juicy.” This combination of premium meats results in a rich, flavorful patty that stands out among typical burger offerings. Equally impressive is the Hangman Burger. While specific details about its ingredients are limited, customer feedback speaks volumes. Such testimonials underscore the burger’s exceptional taste and the lasting impression it leaves on diners. Beyond its delectable menu, the Outpost Cafe is celebrated for its warm, old-school ambiance and attentive service. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, the cafe offers a memorable dining experience that combines hearty meals with a welcoming atmosphere.

Happened upon this place after our original plans for dinner fell through. I grew up in New Jersey and diner culture was a big part of my life. Everywhere I have been has always left me missing the food I grew up with, whether it was diner classics missing from the menu or just an overall quality issue. I’m happy to say for the first time in 30 years I have found a place that has lived up to my hopes for a diner. The staff were friendly and attentive. The decor and general vibes of the place were perfect. Everyone that was there seemed to be happy and having fun. When you walk into a dinner this is exactly what you want it to look like. And to top it off the food was exactly what I was looking for. My wife got the California chicken sandwich, the bread was crispy and the chicken was very moist. The fries were also excellent. I got the hot turkey sandwich with mashed potatoes. While the turkey itself was slightly dry it was offset by some of the best gravy I have ever had. You could really taste the potato in the mashed potatoes, just like you would make at home. This wasn’t the place we were planning to go out to dinner but I can guarantee it will be from now on. I can’t recommend this place enough, it’s the only type of food I haven’t been able to find in California and I am so happy I found it here.
